When you walk into GymTek Academy, you may be tempted to see just a gym with equipment and the distinct smell of chalk, sweat, and dedication, but to the GymTek staff and gymnasts, it is our home away from home, our second family. GymTek Academy is the place where boys and girls come, not only to learn basic skills or train for the highest aspirations of joining the National Team, but also to build their success toolbox such as discipline, mental toughness, determination, and respect with integrity and character. The GymTek Academy building is our escape; filled with others that understand the apprehension with learning a new skill, the need to fail forward when you make a mistake, and that nothing extraordinary is ever done on autopilot. We cheer for our teammates and our competitors and we create and participate in a culture that few understand.
Matt Henry established GymTek Academy to provide a phenomenal community of gymnastics to kids from all over Tennessee. In addition to the deep history within the walls of their facility, GymTek Academy designed every detail with excellence in mind from the state-of-the-art training facility, experienced coaching and teaching staff, classes for athletes of all levels, and competitive teams to the padded seats, Wi-Fi, and working spaces in the viewing area for parents.
The building that now houses GymTek Academy was originally the Knoxville Gymnastics Training Center, owned and operated by Phil and Lisa Savage, who, not only coached Matt Henry, GymTek's current owner, as well as 26 straight Junior National Champions and coached over 100 USAG All-Americans. It is on this strong foundation and legacy that GymTek Academy continues to grow Tennessee gymnastics today.
We are grateful to share the same space that shaped and formed us as a family with you and your family.
